I spent 10 grand on a nose job… I can’t believe how much it has changed my life

A ‘plastic surgery influencer’ who paid $11,000 for a nose operation has detailed how people treated her differently after the procedure. Devyn Aiken, 30, a paralegal from Philadelphia, turned to TikTok to describe how her life has changed since having a rhinoplasty in November 2024. The influencer admitted, ‘I believed I was a gorgeous girl. I did not think I was ugly. You can ask anyone. They would assume I was incredibly confident and secure in who I was. I just believed I had a large nose, which I despised.

For the duration of her life, Aiken despised her nose, especially as it grew notably larger during her tween and early adolescent years. ‘I was bullied a lot, especially in middle school, and it was only by guys,’ she claimed. ‘They used to call me things like bird, Toucan Sam, and other derogatory terms. I was like, “Oh my goodness.” This is all they speak about: my nose. So, if I modify that, what will people speak about?

At the age of 18, Aiken chose to attend to her first nose job consultation, but she learned that she did not have the money to pay for the cosmetic surgery. ‘I had a deviated septum, but nothing that would require surgery. It was purely cosmetic. Insurance did not pay. ‘This was just vanity,’ she added. Over time, Aiken sought consultations in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

After seeing several plastic surgeons, she decided that she wanted an ENT to conduct the treatment to minimize any unfortunate and often common side effects, such as empty nose syndrome, which occurs when air is stopped in the nose. Aiken told the surgeon that she wanted to eliminate her dorsal hump, smaller nostrils, and straighten the curve of her nose. Ultimately, she chose Dr. Mark Ginsburg, a board-certified plastic surgeon and ENT. Aiken informed the surgeon she wanted her dorsal hump removed, her nostrils smaller, and her nose shape straightened. Aiken was pleased with his proposed design and scheduled the procedure, which took place in late November.
